Required Documentation:

Government-issued photo ID or passport is mandatory for all test-takers.

Pre-Registration and Walk-Ins:

The State Line Radio Club VE Team now uses HAM STUDY online testing! We provide tablets for all test applicants to take their exams.

To streamline the process, we strongly encourage applicants to pre-register at https://hamstudy.org/sessions/19363/inperson.
Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registered applicants receive priority if the session is crowded, as we have a limited number of tablets (10).
Everyone will have the opportunity to take the test, but walk-ins may experience a short wait for a tablet.

Test Results and Licensing:

New call signs or license upgrades are typically processed by the FCC by the following Monday or Tuesday evening.

Important Steps Before Signing Up or Attending:

1.FCC Registration Number (FRN):

Applicants must provide an FRN to take the exam.

2.Email Address:

An email address is required for all applicants (FCC regulation).

3.FCC $35 Application Fee (Effective April 19, 2022):

New license candidates must pay a $35 FCC application fee after passing the exam (does not apply to upgrades).
This fee is not collected at the test session. Visit https://www.arrl.org/fcc-application-fee for payment instructions.

ARRL Youth Licensing Grant Program:

The ARRL covers the $35 FCC application fee for new license candidates under 18 years old who test through the ARRL VEC program.
The fee is reimbursed after the FCC issues the new license.
